Avatar 2...still planned in 2015?

I just read somewhere...in a brief interview with JC, at the NZ premiere of The Hobbit (JC and his wife attended the premiere and he was interviewed on the red carpet), he said film on the sequels *could* begin as "early" as the end of 2013. Apparently he's still working on the script(s).

Does that mean filming it, or an actual release? I guess I mean start filming.

So I heard the recent news re: the sequels:

- James Cameron will be working with 4 other writers on the screenplays

- Avatar 2 is set to be released in Dec 2016, Avatar 3 in 2017 and Avatar 4 in 2018

- All 3 sequels (the 4th one might be a prequel) will be filmed at the same time

- Production/Principal photography should begin sometime in 2014 (probably mid or late 2014)

So it seems we have 3 more yrs to go! Hopefully it'll all be well worth the wait.

Yeah I figured 2015 would be way too good to be true. It sounded very early considering they hadn't started filming yet.

The first movie spent over 2 years in post-production. While I don't think Part 2 will take quite that long, it wouldn't surprise me if he pushed it back an additional year to Dec 2017. Still, I do think that whatever he comes up with will definitely be worth any wait.
